Spectral AI

Spectral AI develops predictive wound-care diagnostics combining multispectral imaging and AI, with its FDA-cleared DeepView System assessing healing potential.

Spectral AI builds predictive medical diagnostics that combine multispectral imaging with artificial intelligence to assess how a wound is likely to heal. The company's DeepView™ System captures imaging data invisible to the naked eye and analyses it with AI algorithms to deliver an immediate, objective assessment of wound healing potential, intended to inform treatment decisions from the first day of a patient's admission. The approach targets a clinical problem long addressed through subjective visual assessment: distinguishing wounds that will heal on their own from those requiring intervention.

DeepView has received FDA De Novo clearance for its burn indication. The company is also working with government and defense health customers, holding contracts with BARDA, the Defense Health Agency and the Department of Defense. Its areas of application span burn care, diabetic foot ulcers and the wider wound-care market, with an ambition to expand these applications globally.

Spectral AI was founded in 2009 by Dr. J. Michael DiMaio, a physician, to address a gap he identified in clinical wound assessment. The company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and is publicly listed on Nasdaq under the ticker MDAI. Its technical work sits at the intersection of multispectral imaging, computer vision, artificial intelligence and clinical diagnostics.
