ScreenPoint Medical

ScreenPoint Medical, a 2014 Radboud University Medical Center spin-off, develops AI for breast cancer detection and risk assessment, marketed as the Transpara mammography reading support system.

ScreenPoint Medical develops and markets artificial intelligence for breast cancer detection and risk assessment. Founded in 2014, the Dutch company spun out of Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen and was established by Professor Nico Karssemeijer and Professor Sir Michael Brady, both academic figures in the field of medical image analysis. Its work spans machine learning, computer vision and quantitative breast image analysis, applied to the reading of 2D and 3D mammography examinations.

The company's principal product is Transpara, a breast AI solution that supports radiologists in interpreting mammograms. Transpara is FDA-cleared and CE-certified, and is deployed in more than 30 countries, where it has processed millions of mammograms. The system sits within the categories of computer-aided detection and risk assessment, addressing breast cancer screening as well as diagnostic radiology and oncology workflows.

ScreenPoint Medical describes its approach as evidence-based, and has been involved in clinical research including the MASAI randomised controlled trial, published in The Lancet. The company states that its focus is on improving consistency in reading, reducing uncertainty and enhancing the patient experience in breast screening. Its headquarters and research base are in the Netherlands, with product deployments across more than 30 countries worldwide.
