Varmo

Varmo develops and supplies fully printed, ultra-thin heat flux sensors for thermal process monitoring across automotive, medical, building and industrial applications.

Varmo develops and supplies fully printed heat flux sensor technology, intended to help industries optimise thermal process efficiency, detect anomalies and achieve energy savings. The company is headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, with development and production carried out in Germany.

Its core product is a fully printed heat flux sensor, available in all sizes and shapes and usable both in laboratories and for OEM integration. The sensors are ultra-thin and flexible - less than 150 micrometres thick - allowing minimally invasive integration into existing processes and products, and the manufacturing approach is described as scalable to all volumes.

The technology builds on more than ten years of materials research at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Technical work spans heat flux sensing, printed sensor technology, thin-film and flexible sensor integration, and thermal process monitoring. Target applications include automotive and electric vehicle battery monitoring, medical technology such as patient monitoring and core body temperature measurement, building technology, predictive maintenance, presence detection, wearables and industrial energy management.

The company positions itself as a high-tech spin-off emerging from academic research, with an emphasis on German development and production, compliance with high industry standards and a sustainability-oriented mission focused on energy efficiency.
