AVIAN

AVIAN builds AI-powered thermal camera systems and monitoring software that detect heat anomalies at industrial assets in real time to prevent fires and equipment failure.

AVIAN builds AI-powered thermal camera systems and monitoring software for industrial sites. Its Swiss-engineered infrared cameras watch assets continuously and detect heat anomalies as they occur, while an AI-driven platform analyses the thermal data and alerts the relevant people before a small problem becomes a fire or an equipment failure. The company describes its work as spanning thermal imaging and infrared sensing, computer vision, machine-learning anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, fire detection and industrial IoT monitoring.

The hardware and software are sold as a combined fire-prevention and predictive-maintenance platform. It is deployed at more than 50 facilities across nine countries, protecting assets in wood processing, sawmilling, paper, recycling, food, gas and industrial manufacturing. Its first installation was at Schilliger Holz, a Swiss sawmill.

AVIAN's founders worked inside industrial facilities - at Schilliger Holz - and built the system to close a gap they observed there: abnormal heat going unnoticed until it caused damage. The engineering emphasis is on early detection of that abnormal heat, with the stated aim of preventing fires, reducing downtime and protecting assets.
