Phasecraft

Phasecraft builds ultra-efficient quantum algorithms for materials science and optimisation, aiming to make current quantum computers practically useful.

Phasecraft is a quantum algorithms company founded in 2019 by Toby Cubitt, Ashley Montanaro and John Morton, quantum scientists who have led major research programmes. The firm develops ultra-efficient quantum algorithms intended to make today's quantum computers useful for practical work, focusing on materials science and optimisation. Its approach is to reduce the number of quantum operations required for complex simulations, addressing the gap between the capabilities of current hardware and the demands of real-world problems.

The company reports efficiency gains of up to 43,000,000× in quantum materials simulation through this work. Its stated aim is to accelerate practical quantum advantage and to build foundational intellectual property that can be commercialised. Technical domains span quantum algorithms, quantum computing, quantum materials simulation, optimisation and quantum hardware development.

Phasecraft has partnerships with Google, IBM, Quantinuum and QuEra, giving it access to leading quantum hardware platforms. The company raised a $34 million Series B round in September 2025. It is headquartered in Bristol, United Kingdom, with additional offices in London and in Arlington, Virginia.
