Melt&Marble AB designs high-performance fats and lipids for the food and personal care industries, using precision fermentation and advanced lipid design. The company targets sensory experience, functionality and sustainability in its ingredient output, and states that its work is grounded in science and built for real-world supply at scale.

The technical base is a set of capabilities spanning precision fermentation, microbial and yeast engineering, systems biology, synthetic biology, lipid design and metabolic engineering. The company grew out of the Systems and Synthetic Biology group at Chalmers University of Technology, which is recognised for expertise in microbial engineering, and it has commercialised academic research and early patents from that origin.

An early yeast engineering service offering helped bring academic research from Chalmers University of Technology to market alongside initial patent filings. In 2021 the company shifted its focus to the design of high-performing fats and lipids, with an emphasis on performance, consistency and scalability for large-scale supply.
