Tiger Data

Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, builds a PostgreSQL platform - Tiger Cloud and the TimescaleDB extension - combining relational reliability with scalability for time-series and AI-era workloads.

Tiger Data, formerly known as Timescale, is a database company founded in 2015 that builds a PostgreSQL platform for large-scale workloads. Its flagship product, TimescaleDB, is a PostgreSQL extension designed for time-series and other demanding data sets, combining the reliability of a relational database with scalability for massive workloads; the company says it is trusted by hundreds of thousands of developers. Alongside it sits Tiger Cloud, a cloud-based PostgreSQL platform that extends Postgres for the agentic era, so that AI agents can work with data in new ways.

The company's technical work spans PostgreSQL extension development, time-series data, scalability engineering, cloud infrastructure and AI infrastructure, including data tooling aimed at agentic AI. Its products are used across verticals such as IoT, Web3, AI, developer tools and web infrastructure including content delivery networks. Tiger Data has spent the best part of a decade building on Postgres, persisting with time-series support in PostgreSQL even when the approach drew early scepticism.

Tiger Data operates as a remote-first, globally distributed team. The company describes a culture that favours direct communication over meetings, meaningful collaboration over corporate politics, and pragmatic, developer-focused problem solving over chasing trends.
