Qdrant builds a Rust-based open-source vector database and a managed cloud service for AI search, recommendations and RAG, used at scale worldwide.
Qdrant is a vector database company founded in 2021 and co-founded by André Zayarni and Andrey Vasnetsov. Its core product is a high-performance vector search engine written in Rust, built from scratch to handle high-dimensional data at scale. The database underpins AI applications including semantic and multi-modal search, recommendation systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and AI agents. It is used across e-commerce, healthcare, SaaS, enterprise software, life sciences, industrial manufacturing and market research.
The company maintains two products. The Qdrant Open Source Vector Database is deployable for production-ready vector search and processes billions of vectors; it has recorded more than 10m downloads and 23,000 GitHub stars. Qdrant Managed Cloud offers the same engine as a managed service, letting developers run production vector search without self-hosting.
Qdrant operates as a globally distributed team of more than 75 people across over 20 countries. It retains open-source roots and a developer focus, and states its mission as building the most scalable vector search engine to fuel the future of AI.
