Simprints is a nonprofit technology company that builds biometric identity and digital workflow systems for public services. Working with ministries and funders, it verifies identities, digitises frontline workflows and produces data for decision-making, with the aim of ensuring health, aid and finance services reach the intended recipients. Its technical work spans biometrics, digital identity verification, health informatics, digital public infrastructure, data analytics and dashboards, built on open-source software and a privacy-first approach.
The company's output falls into two broad categories: biometric products that integrate with health records to verify identities and improve accuracy, accountability and insight; and end-to-end digital solutions co-designed with the people who use them, spanning frontline service delivery through to national dashboards. Simprints emphasises frugal innovation and evidence-based measurement in the design of these systems.
Simprints reports work in over 17 countries, reaching more than 3.5m people with health, aid and finance services. Reported outcomes from specific settings include a 38% increase in maternal health visits in a study in Bangladesh and a 62% improvement in accurate HIV tracing in a study in Malawi.
