BioCatch

Behavioral biometrics company using AI to continuously authenticate users through interaction patterns such as keystrokes and mouse movements, helping banks detect and prevent fraud.

BioCatch, founded in 2011, is a behavioral biometrics company that applies artificial intelligence and machine learning to the problem of continuous user authentication. Rather than verifying identity at a single point of entry, its platform analyses how a person interacts with a device - keystroke dynamics, mouse movements and touch-screen behaviour - drawing on more than 3,000 behavioural data points to build a digital fingerprint of each user. The approach rests on the premise that every human interacts with technology in uniquely identifiable ways, and that traditional security measures failed because they did not account for human behaviour.

The company's core product, the BioCatch behavioral biometrics platform, runs in the background of digital banking sessions, authenticating users continuously without adding friction to the customer experience. Financial institutions use it to detect account takeovers, prevent fraud and identify mule activity. The system analyses roughly 16 billion user sessions per month and, by the company's figures, protects some 532 million people across 287 financial institutions globally.

BioCatch operates in the financial services, banking and fraud prevention verticals on a global basis, and its engineering work spans behavioural biometrics, machine learning, fraud detection and user authentication. The founding insight behind the firm remains its organising principle: balancing robust fraud prevention with seamless, frictionless customer experiences.
