Nu Quantum Ltd

Nu Quantum builds quantum networking hardware and its Entanglement Fabric to enable modular scale-out of quantum processors, with roots in Cavendish Laboratory research.

Nu Quantum Ltd, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Cambridge, UK, develops quantum networking hardware intended to allow quantum computers to be scaled out in modular fashion. Its core proposition is that individual quantum processors can be linked into larger systems through networking technology rather than by enlarging a single device. The company maintains a business office in Los Angeles.

The firm's principal product is the Entanglement Fabric, an abstraction layer that enables modular scale-out of quantum processors via quantum networking. Its technical work spans quantum networking, quantum photonics, trapped-ion systems, quantum error correction and distributed quantum computing. The underlying research derives from a decade of work at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, from which the company spun out.

Nu Quantum employs a multidisciplinary team covering nine technical disciplines across science and engineering, and operates research laboratories. It works with industry partners, governments and academic institutions, and describes its focus as mission-driven towards positive global impact.
