EcoCeres
EcoCeres converts waste feedstocks such as animal fat and used cooking oil into sustainable aviation fuel and other renewable fuels at industrial scale, with biorefineries in China and Malaysia.
EcoCeres is a pure-play renewable fuel producer that converts waste materials - including animal fat, used cooking oil and agricultural waste - into high-value renewable fuels, most notably sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Founded in 2008 and spun off from Hong Kong & China Gas in 2021, the company retains more than a decade of experience in biomass utilization and is backed by international investors including Bain Capital and Kerogen Capital.
Technical work sits at the centre of the business. EcoCeres employs over 100 R&D researchers and concentrates its engineering effort in biomass utilization, biorefinery and process innovation, alcohol-to-jet technology, novel feedstock development and renewable fuel production at industrial scale. Advanced biorefinery plants are located in Jiangsu province, China, and Johor state, Malaysia.
The company's principal product is sustainable aviation fuel produced from waste feedstocks, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared with conventional jet fuel. EcoCeres projects SAF production capacity of 700,000 tonnes annually and a global SAF market share exceeding 30%, supplying international airlines working towards aviation's net-zero 2050 target.
