Albus Health

A University of Oxford spin-out building non-contact, AI-driven respiratory monitoring and digital biomarker technology for clinical trials and long-term disease monitoring.

Albus Health is a medical technology company and University of Oxford spin-out that has developed what it describes as the world's most comprehensive non-contact respiratory monitoring system, designed for clinical trials and long-term disease monitoring. The company's work sits at the intersection of sensor technology, AI algorithms and digital biomarkers, with a focus on passive, contactless sensing that reduces the burden on patients taking part in clinical research.

Its product, Albus Home, is a bedside monitoring device that captures clinically important symptoms and signs without requiring patients to wear or operate anything. Using advanced sensors and AI algorithms, it continuously records multiple digital biomarkers during sleep - including respiratory rate, heart rate, cough frequency, laboured breathing and sleep parameters - alongside environmental factors such as air quality, temperature and humidity.

Albus Home has been deployed across more than 40 countries and has recorded over 5 billion data points. The technology is aimed at the pharmaceutical, clinical research and academic research sectors, as well as patient advocacy organisations and the wider healthcare and digital health market.
