Norbert Health develops autonomous robots with contactless, medical-grade monitoring and AI for post-acute and senior care facilities in the United States.
Norbert Health builds autonomous care robots for post-acute care. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, the company develops AI-driven care automation aimed at facilities serving elderly and chronically ill patients, a sector it identifies as facing a critical nursing shortage. Its systems are deployed in senior care facilities across the United States.
The flagship Norbert system converts standard wheeled robots into care assistants through a proprietary physical AI and medical-grade module. The platform combines multimodal AI across computer vision, voice and speech processing, radar and infrared sensing, and sensor fusion to deliver contactless vital sign monitoring without wearables. The system has received FDA clearance for contactless capture of pulse and respiratory rate.
In operation, the robots autonomously round on patients, measure mobility and activity, and run cognitive and behavioural assessments. Findings are documented directly into EMR systems, and clinical alerts are escalated when anomalies are detected - embedding the hardware within clinical decision-support and alerting workflows rather than leaving it as a standalone sensing device.
The engineering scope spans autonomous robotics, sensor fusion, contactless medical-grade monitoring and EMR integration. The stated aim is proactive, preventive care that reduces manual effort on clinical staff.
