Veesion builds AI-powered computer vision systems that analyse existing security camera feeds in real time to detect shoplifting gestures and alert retail staff.
Veesion develops artificial intelligence systems that convert existing security cameras into active theft-prevention tools. Founded in 2018 by three university students with a background in deep learning, the Paris-based company has built proprietary computer vision technology that analyses video feeds in real time to detect suspicious gestures associated with shoplifting. When such behaviour is identified, the system alerts store staff immediately, without relying on facial recognition or requiring new hardware installations.
The company's AI theft-prevention platform is deployed across more than 5,000 stores in over 25 countries, serving retailers, pharmacies and supermarkets. According to Veesion, the system reduces inventory shrinkage by up to 60%. The technology draws on deep learning and real-time video analysis, areas in which the company has built significant in-house expertise.
Veesion employs over 150 professionals across offices in Paris and Lisbon. The firm grew out of a university dorm-room project and describes itself as mission-driven, focused on applying AI to tangible problems in physical retail security.
