Urban Arrow designs and manufactures electric cargo bikes intended to replace car trips for families and businesses in cities. Founded in 2011 by two Amsterdam-based fathers looking for a practical solution to their own family transport problem, the company reports more than 100,000 bikes in use worldwide and positions itself as the leading manufacturer in the e-cargo bike category. It is part of Pon.Bike, one of the Netherlands' largest mobility companies.
The product range splits between family and commercial use. Family, FamilyNext and FamilyNext² are built for transporting children around the city; Cargo and Tender target business and last-mile delivery applications. Breeze, a longtail-format electric cargo bike recently added to the line-up, extends the company's engineering and safety approach to a new bike format. Development work spans electric powertrain and battery-assisted bicycle systems, urban mobility engineering, industrial and product design, and safety engineering, with component partnerships including Bosch, Enviolo and Schwalbe.
Manufacturing runs across two production locations, Amsterdam and Lithuania, keeping production close to European roots. The company also lists Santa Cruz, California among its sites and sells in markets worldwide. Urban Arrow describes its mission in terms of sustainable urban transport: reducing customers' environmental footprint and contributing to cleaner, quieter cities, with a stated quality emphasis on high-grade components and strict quality standards.
