TURN2X

TURN2X is a climate tech company based in Munich that converts renewable electricity into e-Methane, or renewable natural gas, using patented methanation technology. The process combines green hydrogen with biogenic CO₂ - water and biogenic CO₂ are the only inputs required - to produce a gas that acts as a drop-in replacement for fossil fuel, compatible with Europe's existing pipeline infrastructure and industrial furnaces. The output meets RFNBO compliance standards and is certifiable as renewable natural gas.

The engineering behind the process centres on a modular reactor system designed for flexible, on-load operation, allowing efficient gas production alongside variable renewable generation. TURN2X's plants are intended to be co-located with renewable power plants, so that electricity that would otherwise be difficult to transport can be moved as gas instead. Its first commercial plant, in Miajadas, Spain, is fully operational and producing certifiable renewable natural gas.

The company works with partners including Siemens, on industrial automation and digital infrastructure, and Atmen, for automated certification. Its technology is aimed at energy-intensive industries, maritime and utilities - sectors seeking to decarbonise without replacing existing gas-fired assets. TURN2X is headquartered in Munich, Germany.
