Soil Capital
Soil Capital supports farmers' shift to regenerative agriculture, measuring environmental indicators and quantifying carbon reductions and removals, and rewards farmers through carbon farming and insetting programmes.
Soil Capital is an independent agronomy firm founded in 2013 that works with farmers on the transition to regenerative and sustainable agriculture. Headquartered in Belgium and operating in France, the United Kingdom and across Europe, the company combines agronomic support with the measurement of environmental indicators, the quantification of carbon reductions and removals, and payments to farmers through carbon farming and insetting programmes. A team of 65 experts spans carbon accounting, agronomy, soil science and environmental measurement and monitoring.
The company's regenerative agriculture programme, launched in 2019, supports farmers in adopting profitable and regenerative practices, pairing on-farm advice with measurement of environmental performance. It has engaged more than 1,600 farmers across approximately 350,000 hectares. Alongside this sits a certified carbon farming programme - described as Europe's first certified, multi-national scheme quantifying carbon reductions and removals on farms - and insetting programmes that allow companies to invest in soil-regenerating agriculture within their own supply chains, in line with SBTi FLAG requirements.
Soil Capital is a certified B Corp, a status held since 2022, and frames its work around rewarding farmers for environmental stewardship beyond food production. It has set a target of regenerating over 10 million hectares of land by 2030.
