Neural Concept

Neural Concept, an EPFL spinoff, provides an AI platform embedding 3D deep learning into CAD/CAE design and simulation workflows for automotive, aerospace and industrial manufacturers.

Neural Concept, founded in 2018 as a spinoff from EPFL, builds an AI-powered intelligence platform that embeds machine learning into engineering design and simulation workflows. The company, which employs more than 70 people and operates across Switzerland, Europe and North America, raised $100M in a Series C round led by Goldman Sachs. Its software is used by more than 70% of global OEMs and 40% of the top tier-1 suppliers, with customers in automotive, aerospace, industrial manufacturing and motorsport.

The Neural Concept Platform integrates with CAD and CAE tools including CATIA, NX, Ansys and StarCCM+, applying 3D deep learning and NVIDIA Omniverse to evaluate millions of design variants in real time. The stated aim is to compress product development cycles from months to days, with AI copilots handling 90% of routine product development work. Technical work spans 3D deep learning, AI for engineering simulation, CAD/CAE integration, design optimization and real-time variant evaluation.

The company retains research roots from its academic origins, with engineering teams focused on innovation in efficiency, safety and sustainability while AI handles routine development tasks.
