Modual
Swiss developer and manufacturer of modular second-life battery storage systems built from used EV cells, with its own BMS, for households and businesses.
Modual is a Swiss company that develops and manufactures energy storage systems built from used electric vehicle battery cells. Its work spans second-life battery technology, battery management systems (BMS), modular storage design and smart home integration, with an emphasis on the circular economy: extending the useful life of EV cells rather than recycling them prematurely, in order to conserve resources and reduce CO2 emissions.
The company's product line centres on modular storage units assembled from second-life EV cells and developed and manufactured in Switzerland. Capacity scales from 11 kWh to the MWh range, allowing the same architecture to serve private households and commercial users. The systems are compatible with all common inverters and smart home systems, and are built to high safety standards.
Alongside the hardware, Modual has built a proprietary Battery Management System designed specifically for second-life batteries. Because used cells vary in condition, the BMS monitors every individual cell around the clock, a requirement that shapes much of the company's engineering work. The team collaborates flexibly and in decentralised fashion, supported by digital tools.
