Kepler

Kepler Communications builds and operates a Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation providing space-to-space data relay, optical laser links and continuous connectivity for space missions.

Kepler Communications, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Toronto, builds space communications infrastructure: a constellation of satellites in Low Earth Orbit designed to function as Internet exchange points for space-to-space data relay. The system is intended to give space missions real-time, continuous connectivity, with sub-second latency and gigabit throughputs. Dozens of satellites are in orbit with proven flight heritage, and Kepler is Canada's largest satellite operator.

The company is vertically integrated, designing, manufacturing and deploying its satellites from in-house production facilities. Its technical work spans satellite communications, Low Earth Orbit constellation operations, and optical communications. Kepler has developed SDA-compatible optical terminals and has demonstrated both space-to-ground laser links and inter-satellite optical connections, advancing laser-based connectivity alongside its radio-frequency relay services.

Applications served include defense, earth observation, scientific research and human spaceflight. Kepler describes its approach as mission-driven, with stated core values of drive, empathy and agility, and positions itself as a pioneer in space-based connectivity.
