ARTBIO
Clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company developing alpha radioligand therapies for cancer, led by AB001 in first-in-human trials for prostate cancer, plus Pb212 isotope technology.
ARTBIO is a clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company developing alpha radioligand therapies (ARTs) for cancer and building the surrounding ecosystem needed to deliver them. The company was founded in 2021 and has roots at the University of Oslo and Norway's Radium Hospital in Oslo, Norway, institutions with a near-century-long history in radiation therapy research. It was founded by Roy Larsen and Øyvind Bruland, the inventors of Xofigo, the first metabolically targeted alpha therapy, which was acquired by Bayer through Algeta.
Its lead pipeline program, AB001, is an alpha radioligand therapy in first-in-human trials for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. Further pipeline programs are advancing alongside it. A second strand of the company's work is AlphaDirect™, a proprietary isotope isolation technology for producing the alpha-emitting isotope Pb212, which the company describes as the ideal isotope for this modality.
ARTBIO organises its work around four pillars: a differentiated pipeline, the Pb212 isotope, the AlphaDirect™ isolation technology, and a distributed ART manufacturing ecosystem. Technical domains span radiopharmaceuticals, alpha radioligand therapy, isotope isolation and processing, radiotherapy manufacturing and oncology drug development, with a stated patient-centric approach to therapy development.
