Founded in Helsinki, Finland, the company works across a set of technical domains that include EV charging platform technology, smart energy management, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, payments and invoicing systems, charging point management systems, stationary energy storage systems, and EV roaming and interoperability.
Its product line includes Virta Hub, a charging point management system for managing charge points; payment and invoicing services for EV charging; smart energy management tools that also work with stationary energy storage systems; and V2G technology enabling bidirectional energy flow between EVs and the grid.
According to the company, more than 800,000 charge points are connected on its network across over 60 countries, with a managed charger portfolio of over 120,000 units in 35 countries. Virta processed its 100 millionth cumulative EV charging event by the end of March 2025, and reports delivering over 1,600 GWh of clean energy and avoiding more than 325,000 tonnes of CO₂ relative to petrol vehicles.
