OneTutor

OneTutor builds an AI-powered tutoring platform that turns existing course materials into personalised learning experiences. Each student is given a dedicated AI tutor grounded in their actual course content, with full source citations on every answer and a stated design goal of eliminating hallucinations. The platform includes automated quiz generation from course materials and a Socratic tutoring mode built around guided, question-based dialogue.

The underlying work spans large language models with grounded retrieval, natural language processing, learning analytics for instructors and privacy-by-design architecture. The system integrates with learning management systems via LTI 1.3 and is hosted in Germany under GDPR-compliant arrangements, a constraint reflected in deployments across German and European higher education and public-sector customers.

Adoption stands at more than 35,000 active users, upwards of 50 B2B and B2G customers and partnerships with over 40 universities. The company serves higher education institutions, corporate and professional training organisations and public bodies across Europe, with a concentration in Bavaria.

OneTutor was spun off from the Technical University of Munich and retains an academic footing through a research partnership with the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt). A bidt study spanning ten Bavarian universities reported that 86% of students found the platform helpful for exam preparation, and 84% of lecturers said they would deploy it again.
