MuRay Tech
MuRay Tech, an Estonian deeptech startup, builds Active Muon Imaging systems using laser-plasma accelerators for fast, non-destructive 3D imaging of dense materials.
MuRay Tech is an Estonian deeptech startup developing Active Muon Imaging, a non-destructive 3D imaging technique that penetrates dense materials where X-rays fail. The company uses laser-plasma accelerators to generate controlled muon beams on demand, producing sub-millimetre-resolution images in minutes. Passive muon imaging, which relies on cosmic rays, typically takes days to produce comparable results.
The Active Muon Imaging platform is aimed at inspection tasks involving dense metals and other materials. Target sectors include aerospace, defence, nuclear, energy, advanced manufacturing, customs and security screening, and industrial quality assessment, with medical diagnostics a longer-term ambition. The company is based at dual headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia and Hamburg, Germany.
MuRay Tech emerged from stealth having raised €325K. It is building an early-stage team of physicists, engineers and scientists, led by founders with backgrounds at DESY, CERN and Imperial College London. The founding year is not disclosed.
