LUMICKS

LUMICKS, an Amsterdam-based life science tools company, builds instruments for single-molecule analysis and cell avidity measurement used in academic and pharmaceutical research.

LUMICKS is a life science tools company founded in 2014 as an academic spin-off from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, originating in research groups working on biophysics and molecular biology. Headquartered in Amsterdam, it develops instruments that give researchers real-time insight into biological interactions at the molecular and cellular level, spanning dynamic single-molecule analysis, cell avidity analysis, force measurement, and the live visualisation and manipulation of molecular interactions.

Two platforms make up its product line. C-Trap combines live visualisation, manipulation and force measurement for dynamic single-molecule analysis at the smallest molecular scale. z-Movi measures the combined binding strength of cell-cell and cell-protein interactions for cell avidity studies. The instruments are used across academic research and the pharmaceutical industry, including work in oncology, immunotherapy and cancer research.

According to the company, its systems are widely adopted by top universities and research institutions worldwide and contribute to numerous publications in leading journals. LUMICKS describes its mission as accelerating scientific discovery and the development of life-saving therapies, with a stated goal of impacting more than 1 million lives by 2027 through enabling researchers developing cures.
