Last Energy develops 20 MWe micro modular pressurised water reactor plants, built with factory methods, to supply clean baseload power to energy-intensive industries.
Last Energy is an American technology company developing next-generation micro modular nuclear power plants. Its principal product, the PWR-20, is a 20 megawatt electric (MWe) pressurised water reactor designed to be built using advanced manufacturing techniques and a factory-produced, fully modular approach. The company's stated aim is to deploy nuclear capacity quickly and at reduced cost, supplying clean, affordable baseload power to energy-intensive industries such as data centres, metals, chemicals, pulp and paper, and food and beverage.
The company operates as a full-service developer: it designs, owns and operates its plants, and acts as a behind-the-meter independent power producer through power purchase agreements (PPAs). Last Energy has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy for its Nuclear Reactor Pilot Program. It raised $100m in a Series C funding round.
Planned deployments include 30 microreactors in Haskell County, Texas, and four microreactors in South Wales, in the United Kingdom. Technical work spans nuclear engineering, pressurised water reactor design, advanced manufacturing, modular construction and energy systems.
