ju:niz Energy develops, builds and operates large-scale battery storage systems that allow renewable electricity to be integrated reliably into the power grid. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Aschheim, Germany, the company runs the full lifecycle of a storage asset in-house: site acquisition and project development, technical implementation and construction, and long-term operation and maintenance. Its work spans grid-scale battery energy storage, energy marketing and trading, and grid stability services.

The company has 250 MW of battery storage capacity in operation and targets 1.5 GW by 2030. Among its projects in the German market are SMAREG 4, a 60 MW grid-scale battery storage facility, and SMAREG 12.

ju:niz Energy operates a vertically integrated model that retains ownership of its assets, with an emphasis on stable performance of facilities over decades. In 2025 the company joined the EQT network, pairing technical capability with financial strength. Its stated mission centres on reducing CO2 emissions and replacing fossil-fuelled backup power.
