GBM Works
Dutch offshore technology company developing the patented Vibrojet® installation method for offshore wind monopile foundations, combining water jetting and vibratory driving.
GBM Works is a Dutch offshore technology company founded in 2016 as a spin-off from TU Delft. Headquartered in Amsterdam, it develops installation solutions for offshore wind turbine foundations. Its principal product, Vibrojet®, is a patented method that combines controlled water jetting with vibratory driving. By fluidising the seabed around the pile, the technique reduces friction during installation and allows monopiles to be driven faster, more quietly and more efficiently than conventional impact hammering - avoiding much of the harmful underwater noise associated with traditional methods.
The technology has moved beyond the laboratory. Three full-scale monopiles have been installed commercially at Hollandse Kust West, the Ecowende offshore wind project, and Vibrojet® has completed a DNV Technology Qualification. Development work has been delivered through Joint Industry Project programmes: the SIMPLE programme, with more than 20 partners including Van Oord and CAPE Holland, and its follow-on, SIMPLECS, which targets challenging soil conditions and a further reduction in the Levelized Cost of Energy for offshore wind developers. In total, the company has delivered over €20 million in development projects.
GBM Works operates across several technical domains, among them vibratory pile driving, seabed friction reduction, underwater noise mitigation, geotechnics and technology qualification. Its stated environmental objective - reducing underwater noise to protect marine life - aligns with the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The workforce grew by more than 80% between 2023 and 2026, reflecting the company's shift from research spin-off to commercial deployment in offshore wind construction.
