Flink Robotics

Flink Robotics, an ETH Zurich spin-out, builds FlinkAI, a vision-and-reasoning software stack that turns industrial robots into plug-and-play material handling systems for warehouses and factories.

Flink Robotics develops software intelligence that turns industrial robots into plug-and-play systems for material handling in dynamic environments such as warehouses and logistics centres. The company was founded out of the Computational Robotics Lab at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and its team is composed of robotics engineers and researchers who work closely with research partners. It is backed by venture capital investors; funding amounts and stages have not been disclosed.

Its product, FlinkAI, combines computer vision, AI reasoning and robot control to let industrial robots adapt to messy real-world conditions without extensive custom engineering. Out of the box, robots equipped with the system can pack, unload, sort and handle materials. Installation is reported to take minutes rather than months, and the system is sold as a monthly subscription rather than requiring large capital expenditure.

The company targets industrial deployments in warehousing, logistics, material handling and manufacturing or shop-floor operations, with an emphasis on practical deployment alongside human workers. Its stated technical domains span robotics, computer vision, AI reasoning, robot control systems, machine learning and computational robotics. Its stated aim is to make automation accessible to businesses of all sizes without fleets of engineers or large capital budgets.
