Corwave

Corwave is a French clinical-stage company developing wave membrane-based cardiac assist devices (LVADs) that provide physiological pulsatile blood flow for heart failure patients.

Corwave is a clinical-stage medical device company founded in 2012 and headquartered in Clichy, near Paris. It develops cardiac assist devices for heart failure, built around proprietary wave membrane technology. The engineering rests on more than 20 years of research and is protected by over 50 patents. Unlike existing left ventricular assist devices, the wave membrane design is intended to produce truly physiological, pulsatile blood flow. The company's Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS) is a durable left ventricular assist device based on that technology. It was the first innovative durable LVAD to enter clinical trials in over a decade, and in 2025 Corwave announced the world's first implantation of the system in a patient. The company also operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for its blood pump and membrane components. Corwave employs more than 130 people representing 15 nationalities and has raised more than €80m from investors including Bpifrance, the EIC Fund, Sofinnova Partners and Ysios Capital. It is a member of the French Tech 120 index and traces its origins to the startup studio MD Start. Its stated mission is to save heart failure patients and help them return to an active life, while giving healthcare professionals reliable solutions.
