Coherent Aerospace & Defense

Coherent Aerospace & Defense is the aerospace and defense division of Coherent, formerly II-VI Incorporated. The group designs, fabricates, integrates and tests advanced optical and photonic solutions for military and aerospace customers, with a particular focus on space-based optical systems such as telescopes and precision optical assemblies built for demanding environments. It serves defense customers worldwide.

The product portfolio spans space-based optical systems and telescopes, high-precision imaging optical assemblies, infrared optics, thin film coatings, optical materials, diamond-turned components, and optical windows and domes. Vertical integration is central to the operation: design, fabrication, integration and testing are handled in-house, as are enabling capabilities such as optical design and engineering, thin film coating, infrared optics, precision diamond turning and optical materials.

Technical work centres on photonics and optical engineering applied to mission-critical aerospace and defence programs. The emphasis is on precision, reliability and performance in meeting complex design requirements for defense platforms and space missions.
