Cambridge Consultants

Founded in 1960 and part of Capgemini since 2020, Cambridge Consultants develops new-to-the-world products, technologies and client-owned IP across deep tech, engineering and scientific domains.

Cambridge Consultants is a deep tech innovation and engineering consultancy founded in 1960. The firm develops new-to-the-world products, services and intellectual property for clients confronting scientific and engineering problems, working across domains including deep tech R&D, scientific research, engineering, product design, technology consulting and business and technology strategy. It has been part of Capgemini since 2020, where it serves as the group's deep tech arm.

Two lines of work define the practice. The first is breakthrough product and service development: the creation of offerings that have not existed before, built at the intersection of business and technology, with more than 500 client projects delivered each year. The second is the development of proprietary technology and IP, which clients own outright - an arrangement intended to yield long-term value and defensible market position rather than consultancy retainers.

The firm operates from four facilities - Cambridge in the UK, Boston in the US, Singapore and Tokyo - each with state-of-the-art labs. Teams are multidisciplinary, combining engineers, scientists, designers and consultants, and the stated emphasis is on innovation rather than iteration, pairing technical depth with commercial judgement. Industry verticals served include aerospace and defence, healthcare, consumer products and the wider scientific and engineering sectors.
